A survey published at the end of 2017 revealed that 36 percent of Italians considered Black Friday to be just a simple deal, while approximately 25 percent said it is another consumption trend imported from the United States. Surprisingly enough, the results of the same survey also showed that four percent of Italians did not know about Black Friday, while about one in two Italians had heard of it the very same year.
Female customers and young adults spend the most
According to a survey on the same topic published in 2018, male consumers seemed to be less interested in Black Friday than female customers. The results showed that over 60 percent of the Black Friday shopping in 2017 was attributable to female customers. Furthermore, when analyzing the age of Black Friday customers, the survey showed that young adults between 25 and 34 years old accounted for 26 percent of the total Black Friday sales.
Black Friday is getting more and more popular
Black Friday marks the beginning of Christmas season shopping in the United States. However, in the last few years it was imported and started to increase in popularity also in the Old Continent. In 2018, for example, in the United Kingdom (UK), Turkey and Romania on average 66 percent of consumers declared they took part in Black Friday shopping. The shopping weekend seems to be very popular in the United Kingdom: the average expenditure was expected to be as high as 350 euros per consumer in 2018.
